Pro-Flo Plumbing & Drain Cleaning

Leaking Outside Faucet, Hose Bib, Spigot & Sillcock Repair in Danville, VA

An outside faucet may also be called a hose bib, spigot, sillcock, or wall hydrant. These fixtures connect a garden hose to the home’s water supply and make it easier to water plants, wash vehicles, fill containers, and handle outdoor cleanup. When the fixture drips, sprays from the handle, or leaks inside the wall, it can waste water and damage siding, framing, foundations, basements, or crawl spaces. Pro-Flo Plumbing repairs and replaces outdoor faucets throughout Danville, helping homeowners correct visible leaks and hidden freeze damage before moisture spreads.

Common Causes of Hose Bib Leaks

A steady drip from the spout often comes from a worn washer, seal, cartridge, or valve seat. Water escaping around the handle may indicate damaged packing material or a loose internal component.

Loose connections, corrosion, high water pressure, and age can also cause failure. One of the most serious problems occurs when trapped water freezes and splits the pipe behind the wall. The faucet may appear normal until it is turned on, allowing water to flow into the home instead of through the hose.

Repair and Replacement Options

Some leaks can be corrected by replacing a washer, stem, vacuum breaker, or other internal part. Complete replacement may be more practical when the fixture is cracked, heavily corroded, freeze-damaged, or no longer shuts off reliably.

Warranty coverage may vary according to the repair performed, replacement fixture, and manufacturer. Before work begins, homeowners should receive clear information about any applicable workmanship or product warranty.

Upgraded Outdoor Faucets

Modern hose bibs can include vacuum breakers or anti-siphon valves that help prevent contaminated water from being pulled backward into the drinking-water system. Frost-free sillcocks and wall hydrants are also available, with the shutoff point positioned farther inside the home for added freeze protection.

Proper installation still matters. The fixture should slope slightly downward toward the exterior so water can drain after use.

Williams and his guys did an awesome job on my bathroom renovation. Recommend 100%
My brother’s apartment was flooding from a very old and non maintenance water heater. The property manager was not capable of getting a plumber there for an emergency that happened around midnight. Marybeth at Pro-Flo Plumbing was able get someone out there in a timely fashion. I’m grateful that they were able to remove the most of water shut off the water.

Pro Flo plumbing fixed two issues in our home that we had been putting off. The price was fair, our plumbers were outstanding and both jobs were done right.
Pro Flo also has now helped the nonprofit animal shelter my wife and I work with (APS Caswell) twice and did a great job for the shelter as well. When you go with Pro Flow, you can count on knowledgeable professionals explaining everything thoroughly, and getting the job done right for a reasonable price. I know my family are Pro Flo customers for life.

Paid this company for nothing! Told them the issue (disconnected pipe and clogged) the man claimed he climbed under the house and seen no issue then charged me a service fee but he didn’t do anything and I had to call another company out and they had the problem fixed within an hour and a new pipe connected.

Winter Protection for Outdoor Plumbing

Before freezing weather arrives, disconnect every garden hose and remove splitters, timers, and spray attachments. Close the interior shutoff valve when one is available, open the outside faucet, and drain the remaining water.

Insulated faucet covers may provide added protection, but they do not replace proper draining. Frost-free fixtures must also remain free of attached hoses during winter.
